A poll found that parents spend on average $500 on their kid’s birthday parties! There is much debate about all the party spending.

Whether they are thrown for a birthday party or just to have a good time, princess parties have become very popular and with good reason. They are a great way to celebrate. Many little girls grow up dreaming of being a princess and making this a reality for even a day is an excellent idea.

If you are going to go ahead with this idea then you want to make sure that you do it right. Here are some tips for ensuring that your party is a hit.

Party in Your Backyard

Choosing the location for your princess party is important. When you are throwing a princess party you need to ensure that your location is ideal.

You can have the party in your own backyard or your friend’s backyard. This works for a day party as well as a night party.

If you do have a night party, buy or rent a large number of colorful paper lanterns. Hire someone to set these up in your backyard well in advance of your party.

Hang them in trees or hang them from power lines if you have access. Put a few strings of lanterns near the front yard so that guests can see where they are walking.

You’ll need a tent at the end of the party for your guests to change into their regular clothes, so if you have a big backyard get a tent.

Party in the Park

You may want to consider having the party at a park. The park is perfect for a princess party because of all the room to run and play.

It will be a memorable party because of all the beautiful sights and sounds.

The landscaping can also make it so that you don’t need any decorations at all. The playground equipment can help provide entertainment for your guests.

Keep in mind that this location may not work for people who live far away or have other commitments (school, work) on the day of the party.

Invite Your Guests

When sending out invitations include the location of the party, date and time, what kind of dress to wear, and if you would like any guests to bring a stuffed animal.

Send the invites in the mail (don’t forget that stamps have to be ordered separately!) at least six weeks beforehand. This will give people enough time to plan their schedule

Invitations can be sent by email too. Just make sure that you have everyone’s email address so you may include links to the party location on google maps.

Make sure you let your guests know they should RSVP by a certain date. This way you can know how many people to prepare for.

Decide on the Menu

The food that you serve at the party is very important. The type of food that is available can make the difference between whether people enjoy your party or not, so it is important to choose wisely.

The best food for princess parties is usually something that can be eaten in one or two bites. These little things are perfect for hungry guests.

Stuff a pepperoni pizza with cheese, peppers, and olives to make a pizza mouse. This will be easy to eat and tastes delicious too!

Buy a bag of microwave popcorn and put it in individual cups. You can decorate the cups with cute messages like “Popcorn” or “Sweet Treat.” Put a few kernels from inside the bag on top of the container for decoration.

Buy some fruit puffs cereal and put them in individual cups with little bows. Add a spoonful or two of cereal to the cups for a fun surprise.

Put some of your favorite ice cream in muffin tins and freeze them until they are hard. Add sprinkles, chocolate chips, whatever you want, it’s up to you to customize these treats how you please.

Get some Nutella and sandwich it between two graham crackers for a quick snack. Put cheese sticks on top of mini French fries to make fry towers! The possibilities are endless.

Select the Music

The first step to choosing the type of music you want at your party is to analyze your audience. The music you choose should be age-appropriate.

For example, if your audience is young you may want songs about princess stories. If this is the case you can select a playlist of listening from Disney movies like Frozen and Tangled.

If the audience is older hiring a DJ is a good idea. If you are using a DJ to play music, make sure they have appropriate songs. You want to make sure there is always something for everyone!

In addition to listening to classic Disney songs, it may also be entertaining for your guests to see reenactments of their favorite princess stories. You can also provide a big-screen outdoor television that shows Disney princess movies while the party is going on.
